And so we approach the end of another lovely year, and cap it with the traditional celebration of Christmas.

Here’s just a little story about me and Christmas:
Having grown up in a family that put mathematics and science and logic on the highest pedestal, I am not a religious person. Not very spiritual either, admittedly. However, I have a fondness for Christmas. It must have been because when I moved to Canada as a very young person (age 5ish), Christmas was a very big deal in school, and we spent what felt like months (probably more realistically, weeks) practicing our Christmas carols in preparation for the Christmas concert.
Plus I found it great fun learning to sing Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, Little Drummer Boy, Silver Bells, Walking in a Winter Wonderland, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman, just to name a few.
At home, my parents always made it a great tradition with a fresh-cut Douglas fir tree from the local Christmas tree vendor, which we would decorate with all sorts of lights, kid-made construction paper garlands (red and green loops stapled together in interlocking perfection), collected ornaments from everywhere, and a gifts wrapped under it.
It was only recently as an adult that I learned from my dad that he waited for his Christmas bonus before going off to the stores to buy use Christmas presents. His story about that hits me in an emotional place.
So all this put together makes me a little sentimental around this time of year. What about you?

So what does this have to do with real estate and homes? Nothing at all, but it does remind me what my first Broker/Owner at the Century 21 office I started at 10 and a half years ago told me – you’re not in the house business, you’re in the people business. And I have always held on to that mantra. I’m in the People Business.
And as such, I wanted to wish you, my favorite people, a very good holiday season, and thank you for reading my blog this year, and if you didn’t read it, that is OK also, I do appreciate you keeping me on your list and keeping me in mind when you have any real estate related questions.
In 2021, I received a record number of real estate questions. Many, many of you called, texted and email me for valuations on your homes and investment properties, and for recommendations on roofers, termite inspectors and home inspectors, flooring contractors, general contractors, handymen, estate planning attorneys, eviction attorneys, and good real estate agents in Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and all over the country.
I want to let you know I appreciate every one of you for reaching out and trusting me to refer you people.
I also want to apologize if any of those service providers did not work out as well as you had hoped! It was a challenging year for some small business people, with challenges ranging from being overextended to understaffed. I know it is frustrating to encounter that regardless of the reasons, and I did for a time this year decide to stop recommending anyone to anyone because of some less than good experiences. But, needs come up and I am a resource, so I am judiciously recommending people and businesses again. Please, do let me know how my recommendations work out, so that I can better guide my future recommendations.
Finally, thank you, thank you, and thank you again for being my clients, trusting in me and my team in helping you with 2 of the most important and high valued events in people’s lives: Buying a Home, and Selling a Home. I am keenly aware that these are a very big deal and you have choices in the marketplace, and everyone knows a friend or friend’s friend or friend’s relative with a license, and I appreciate that you have put your trust in me to do a great job for you!
As we round out this year, and enter the next, may you and yours have an abundance of health, happiness, wealth, and success in all of your endeavors.
